-Troop 1032 Blog-Day 8 - 9/1/2010 MARKET DAY / VISITORS DAY Today is Visitors Day and Market Day, we are expecting approximately 10600 people to arrive from 8am in the morning. Family members of our troop started to arrive from 9am. The queue to get in was incredible with cars and coaches alike pouring in and some queuing back many km's.
Some of the kids were happy to see their parents, some were happy to receive a new lot of laundry, and some parents missed their kids more than the kids missed them. The market day stall ran smoothly with many scouts, cubs and visitors attempting to make some lunar dollars by throwing tennis balls at a stack of weighted cans. $1 bought 3 throws and if you knocked all the cans down you won $4. We also had a board with balloons on it, with participants throwing darts at the board to attempt doubling their money.
When lunchtime came around at midday, the troop campsite turned into a packed out venue with record numbers of people cramming in under the dining shelter to avoid the searing sun.
Well the visitors have left, the gang show finished in the main arena, and the scouts settling down to sleep. Which is probably not a bad idea... Signing out for now, Adam M Day 14 - 15/1/2010 Previous Days
