-Troop 1032 Blog-Day 3 - 4/1/2010 OPENING CEREMONY DAY Today is opening day of Jamboree after several days of waiting at 7pm AJ2010 came to life! Slowly but surely the shops and activties are opening up to leaders and scouts. The post office is now open, jamboree tv being broadcast and the radio pumping throughout the site, especially ours (Much to the dismay of some of the leaders...). The day was broken into two sections of freetime to explore the activities that were open and to begin visiting the contingent HQ's of the other states. With all of the activities to complete the scouts can achieve the Jamboree Award. The Australiana village was open early and the local constabulary were under fire from the colonial folk. The local police did come off second best... haha.
Badge swapping was made interesting by the AJ2010 staff as you can only buy more badges from your own state. This was done to make people trade badges more. The dinner was awsome and we had to finish early in order to get a prime position at the Opening Ceremony. The ceremony was interesting with a local aboriginal elder welcoming us and "her majesty" (haha what a blooper that was) our Governer General Marie Bashir opening the ceremony.
and finally Bluejuice the local australian band belting out their latest tunes much to the delight of many fans.
The opening ceremony was bigger than any other jamboree I have been to and the Main Arena was packed!
Signing out for now, Adam M
